TV - no channels, due to digital upgrade on July 1
We were travelling with five children (16, 16, 14 and 11 years and a baby 7 months) and very friendly and serviceminded staff made our stay a true pleasure. We had all we could wish for at the hotel - all inclusive with plenty of choices for breakfast (a chef was cooking omelette and waffles and there were freshly made danish and croissants), lunch and dinner (theme nights). There were also snack meals available at the pool bar. The hotel has a lovely garden with sun beds and shades leading down to a small beach which is ok for swimming and snorkling. Beach volley, water polo, billiard and table tennis during the day, mini disco and entertainment (of various quality...) at night. About 2 km to nearest small town centre (Pernera), 4-5 km to Protaras (beautiful beach at Fig Tree Bay), 7-8 km to Ayia Napa. Car recommended but not necessary as there are public buses stopping outside the hotel property.
The breakfast was great. I must say that the staff was quite good. Willing to help us in everything.
1. The family room we booked was toooooo small for 4 people that they say. Imaging that you have one double bed plus 2 separate beds in a very small room. we didn't like it at all. 2. Unfortunatly for so many people there were few sunbeds in the swimming pool .
The location was good and the gardens were lovely, leading down to the beach. We were only there on a bread and breakfast basis but the food was great. The staff were pleasant and helpfull and rooms were cleaned regularly.
The hidden costs, when we arrived. We were told that it was £10 euro deposit to get a remote control for the TV, the safe costs £21 euro per week with a £5 euro refundable deposit, the fridge was also £21 euro per week plus £5 euro refundable deposit. However the Manager did waive these costs because they were not included in the information on Booked.net. The plumbing/bathrooms are in need of updating particularly the shower heads. There was no slip mats in the bath.
Our 'superior room' was dissapointingly small but clean. The gardens, pool area, and small beach at the rear of the Hotel were very pleasant and well maintained. There were ample sunbeds and the Bar/cafe refreshments were reasonably priced. The furniture in the public rooms appeared to have been renovated and/or renewed recently. Breakfast was good with a varied and well cooked choice of food and beverages. The restaurant menu for lunch and dinner however was predictable and seemed only to cater for those on full board or 'all inclusive'. A brief look at the food on offer made us drive five miles into Protaras in search of something better. Our overall impression was this hotel was no more than a three star hotel with four star prices and aspirations as yet unfulfilled.
We have previously lived in Cyprus so we understand the Island, the area, the people, and the tourist industry. Our comments are well meant and will hopefully help those who wish to holday here. ! The Hotel frontage was un inspiring and had very few car parking spaces. Having checked in we found their was no tv remote control. We were subsequently told that we had to pay 20 euros for this and we complained to the Manager. Whilst apologetic he said the hotel had lost 76 remotes the previous season !! After some discussion he allowed us a fee free control. The room and corridors smelt of fresh paint. Obviously all the furniture had recently received an upgrade. Only one of two lifts (which were restricted to six persons) was working during our two day stay, which was very inconvenient, and those who liked to take drinks up to their rooms left ample evidence with spills over the lift floor which made it very slippery. A complaint about this however was quickly dealt with. Unfortunately the hotel is in an unattractive and run down area surrounded by half built houses and building sites some way from the centre of Protaras. There is one small supermarket, one restaurant, and one run down bar within easy walking distance of the hotel.
Relaxed quieter position albeit a couple of kilometres from downtown Protoras. A car is recommended but not essential as there are buses. beautiful landscaped gardens full of flowers on the way down to a quiet cove. Super buffet breakfast, well attended by hard working but friendly staff. helpful and efficient reception staff.
Just a comment really in that the evening meals were not as "greeklike"as we were expecting but not a serious problem.
THe area is very green, nice park around, homely atmosphere
The environment is great, the hotel is clean and well organised. Great breakfast with a wide variety, friendly staff.
Airconditioning is inadequate especially when very hot outside and matresses need to be changed.
It was very close to the beach
A deposit is needed for the TV remote control
nice pool, nice garden, nice rooms.
There is no coffee, tee in the room! The towels is not so clean and smells bad. Very small balcony. Breakfast was poor.
excellent location and value for money, clean, express service, wonderful gardens with beautiful flowers and trees, own private small bay beach, large pool and very close to the centre
Very friendly staff. Very clean rooms. Nice ocean view. Great garden to relax.
A little bit more food selection at lunch and dinner would be nice.
The waters near hotel are amazing! The territory is great too! A lot of flowers and palm trees. The breakfast was nice and the staff polite and attentive.
Almost everything in the room for extra charge: fridge, safe box, remote.. The hotel is not cheep.. so I believe all this should be included in the price I paid. It is also annoying , because you not just paying extra, you have to go to reception, live cash deposit for each key! No kettle or even a glass or plate in the room.
excellant servise.good breakfast, reasonable good beach and good swimming pool with nice surrounding green
the noicy fcu in the room / the maintenance tecnician came 2 times. The week TV signal due to faulty antenna and which was never repaired.
I like the pool area.
If u can use the frigde u need to pay 3€/day... No Internet for free. The breakfast finish at 10 o'clock and don't have different options to eat, the ham and cheese are cheap quality. The swimming pool are two, one for a adults and another for a children, it's great. The beach is ok. Have many green areas with flowers. Have a small park closed to the pool. The restaurant In the pool is expensive, and the food it's no really good. The room was clean.
